Stump Grinding Explained in 4 Simple Steps

Thinking about stump grinding away your tree stump?

Here’s how it works in 4 simple steps:

  1. The assessment

Your requirements and situation are discussed in an initial assessment. This will determine what equipment can be used and how the stump can be accessed.

2. Stump Grinding

Specialist stump grinding machinery is used to break down the tree stump. The equipment features a rotating cutting wheel with very sharp teeth that slowly cut away at the stump.

3. Area Excavation

The area around the stump will be excavated and surface roots ground out (if required).

4. Remaining roots will rot

Over-time any foots left underground will rot away. Tree roots can spread over large areas and are not typically removed during grinding.

5. The hole is filled in

When the stump is ground out, any remaining wood grindings and soil is mixed into the hole and left as a small mound to settle down over time.
